What is Precision Medicine?

Precision Medicine is an approach for disease prevention that takes into account patient’s general individual variations in genes. Thanks to the decrease in price of and increased accessibility of the Human Genome Series, new tools for manipulating large data sets, and improved biomedical technologies, it is now possible and simple to extract DNA from a patient’s diseased tissue, sequence it and analyze the profile to find a treatment that will work for that patient.
Precision Medicine aims to find the right drug for the right people and identify new targets for treatment and prevention of diseases, all by using complex Genomics.
This is an infographic detailing Precision Medicine and the rise in the use of Genomics to help cure diseases and individualize medicine in 2015.
