Apple joins digital health

This fall, Apple will launch its presence into digital health along with its new digital products. Apple aims to introduce its new application HealthKit with the iPhone 6. This will potentially giving healthcare providers more direct access to basic patient health information that could reduce the need for unnecessary appointments and alert providers to health problems sooner. Apple has identified that medical information is being collected by thousands of healthcare software medical applications, but is not being centrally stored. Apple’s interest and move towards digital health asserts the growing importance of digital health, and its potential to work with medical providers to increase the quality and efficiency of healthcare for patients.
