AI can help draft documents and surface patterns. It cannot be the accountable owner of safety decisions.

- What data is collected, where is it stored, and who can access it?
- What is the consent model and what is disclosed to patients and clinicians?
- How are software changes controlled, validated, and monitored over time?
- What is explainable enough for surgeons to trust during live cases?
- How are limitations communicated so teams do not over-rely on assistive outputs?
PCCP-style lifecycle thinking reinforces the direction of travel here: hospitals and regulators will expect disciplined change control, monitoring, and transparency as AI-enabled functions evolve.
AI can help identify issues and draft policies. It cannot establish legitimacy with hospital governance bodies, risk committees, and clinical leadership. Trust is earned through transparent governance, disciplined monitoring, and responsible communication when things go wrong.
