A rapidly growing leader in surgical robotics is seeking a Director of Product Management to lead and execute product strategy across a portfolio of capital equipment, software, and disposable medical device products.
This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for defining product vision, developing long-term roadmap strategy, and driving commercialization efforts for both existing and next-generation technologies. The successful candidate will lead a team of product managers while partnering closely with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Clinical, Regulatory, and Operations teams to bring innovative products to market and improve patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Portfolio Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive product vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with business objectives
- Lead portfolio planning and prioritization across capital equipment, software, digital solutions, and disposable products
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer assessments to identify growth opportunities
- Build business cases for new products, enhancements, and strategic investments
Product Lifecycle Management
- Oversee the full product lifecycle from concept through commercialization and post-market optimization
- Drive successful product launches and adoption strategies
- Monitor market performance and recommend enhancements to maximize commercial success
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure seamless product development and execution
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of product managers
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and high performance
- Establish development plans, performance goals, and succession strategies
- Recruit and scale product management talent as the organization grows
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Clinical Affairs, Regulatory, Quality, and Manufacturing teams
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on product investments and portfolio decisions
- Translate customer and market insights into actionable product strategies
Operational & Financial Management
- Support product planning, forecasting, budgeting, and resource allocation
- Track key performance metrics and use data to inform product decisions
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and cybersecurity requirements within the medical device environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
- 8+ years of product management experience within medical devices, medical technology, or surgical robotics
- 4+ years of leadership experience managing product management teams
- Proven track record of defining and executing successful product strategies
- Strong understanding of medical device regulatory environments, including FDA, MDR, and healthcare technology requirements
- Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives from concept through commercialization
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities
