In a 2014 survey conducted by AMN Healthcare, 323 clinical and human resource leaders from different healthcare organizations identified emerging healthcare roles as value-based, patient-focused care takes hold. Changes in both leadership and staffing roles are adjusting to technological changes and company plans to establish more team-based organizational communities.
Some of the key takeaways from the survey include:
Top staffing positions currently recruited, or plan to:
- ICD-10 Coders: 44%
- Care Coordinators: 41%
- Medical Scribes: 25%
Top leadership positions currently recruited, or plan to:
- Chief Experience Officer: 16%
- Chief Population Health Officers: 13%
- Chief Clinical Transformation Officer/Director/Manager: 11%
It is also important to note that telehealth-trained healthcare staff is also on the rise: 24% of respondents claimed to be recruiting or planning to recruit telehealth-trained physicians, as well as RNs, and NP/PAs. Changes in demand for certain healthcare roles are a direct result of changes in the healthcare industry, and healthcare hiring teams are aware of, and responding to this.
